When Life Changes in a Microsecond

I’ve been spending time reflecting on resilience. Not the version we often celebrate; the comeback, the breakthrough, the finish line but the quieter, more powerful version.

The version that shows up when your plans change. When you ask yourself “How am I going to navigate this?”.

When you can’t do the things that normally make you feel strong, energized and bring you joy.

Resilience isn’t built in the moment you face a challenge. It’s revealed there. It’s built in the habits you practice long before adversity arrives.

The mindset you cultivate. The conversations you have with yourself. The way you respond when things don’t go according to plan. The way you adapt when life asks you to take a different path.

Physical fitness matters. Mental fitness matters more.

Because there will come a day when life asks something difficult of you. And in that moment, you won’t rise to the occasion, you’ll fall back on the patterns you’ve practiced.

You have the choice. Choose wisely.

My world slowed down and some moments felt different. It’s was full of patience, self-compassion, grace, and acceptance. It was trusting the healing process and finding gratitude in the smallest moments.

I leaned into a community and relationships that were built long before they were needed in a new way. It was being open and receptive to support and appreciating the unexpected gifts along the way.

Racing and training may have paused, but the work continued.

If there's one thing this experience is reinforcing, it's that resilience isn't about never getting knocked down or bouncing back.

It's about who I've become, and how I chose to show up each day, while finding my way forward.
